The Kelowna Community Health and Services Centre is a state-of-the-art, 140,000-square-foot facility in downtown Kelowna that provides essential health services while centralizing administration for the Interior Health Authority (IHA). Taking inspiration from the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre model, the five-story building revitalizes the inner city and consolidates a wide range of outpatient healthcare services under one roof.
This innovative facility includes 60,000 square feet of clinical space to accommodate vital programs in adult mental health and substance use, developmental disabilities, children's health, health promotion and protection, chronic disease management and home health services. Centralizing primary medical services on a single 40,000-square-foot floor enhances patient care and streamlines service delivery. Additional clinical facilities include audiology, speech pathology, and specialized services for acquired brain injuries.
Beyond clinical spaces, the centre offers 65,000 square feet for administration to support departments like Capital Projects, Planning, Human Resources and Allied Health. With corporate offices, patient care areas and a fifth-floor staff patio overlooking Okanagan Lake, this facility is designed for both operational efficiency and employee well-being. Serving as a corporate hub for IHA, the centre accommodates over 800 employees and treats up to 500 patients daily with room for future tenant spaces to support Kelowna’s healthcare needs.
