The Strathmore Municipal Building represents a pivotal step in the Town’s journey toward growth and modernization while honouring its rich history. In 2015, the Town of Strathmore recognized the need for a new municipal building to provide a healthier and more efficient workspace for its staff, strengthen the Town’s presence and invigorate the central Kinsmen Park. The result is a two-storey, 25,000-square-foot facility designed to meet the current and future needs of Strathmore’s administration, business units, community services and council chambers.
GGA was critical in bringing this vision to life by providing integrated design input from the project’s inception. Our involvement began with the comprehensive programming of the departments of the municipality by focusing on the latest workplace design philosophies and anticipating future trends, including pandemic resilience and workplace evolution. We emphasized the importance of creating a people-centric environment by prioritizing access to natural light, views from within, thermal comfort, indoor air quality and sustainable practices, such as low water usage.
The building’s design is a testament to Strathmore’s forward-looking approach through blending modernity with respect for its historical roots. It is a confident yet fiscally responsible investment in the Town’s future. Positioned adjacent to Kinsmen Park in downtown Strathmore, the facility has become a central hub by offering a one-stop shop for residents seeking administrative services and a collaborative workspace for leadership staff and elected officials.
The Strathmore Municipal Building symbolizes the Town’s commitment to progress, community and sustainability. It enhances the Town’s image and serves as a legacy for future generations as Strathmore remains a vibrant community for years to come.
