GGA were the Prime Consultants providing architectural and interior design services for the Alberta Health Services South Calgary Health Centre. Leading an integrated design process with a qualified consultant team, GGA created an effective and sustainable facility offering a wide range of clinical services. The facility was conceived as a prototypical fully integrated diagnostic and treatment centre featuring urgent care capabilities, specialty clinics, speech/language pathology, mental and public health services, rehabilitation therapy, diagnostic imaging and pharmacy services, combined with lab facilities and suburban office space, all in one consolidated facility serving South Calgary.

GGA and the consultant team worked closely with the development manager, construction manager and stakeholder teams to develop creative and effective solutions to meet the programmatic requirements within a tight budget and time frames. The functional planning process overlapped the design of base building infrastructure to ensure suitability of base building infrastructure for the ultimate use. This included consideration of structural design, column spacing, window size and placement as well as mechanical and electrical infrastructure. Unique opportunities included the need for team work and collaboration in accommodating evolving program and technical requirement standards as the design evolved.

A 110,000 sq. ft. suburban office building that includes a public and private partnership with the Calgary Health region for a prototypical fully integrated diagnostic and treatment centre, urgent care, speciality clinics, speech / language pathology, mental health, public health, rehabilitation therapy, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy combined with lab facilities and suburban office space.
