Genesis Place is a multi-phased recreation project in the City of Airdrie. Phase One involved a complete retrofit and expansion of the existing pool structure. The design showcased the leisure water and slide tower providing the City of Airdrie with a new iconic landmark and amenity in their community. Phase Two involved the addition of an indoor multi-use fieldhouse, expanded fitness space, running track and gymnastics centre. The field spaces can accommodate multiple sports uses filling a significant need in the community and maximizing operational use. Daylighting and flexibility are constant themes in the addition as it grew to one of the largest facilities in the province. Phase Three was completed in 2013 and is the final phase of the mega project, involving the addition of a twin arena with two NHL-size ice surfaces and 500 grandstand seats. The new arenas provide a truly civic hub for a significant Airdrie landmark.
Genesis Place was completed as a joint venture with CannonDesign.
