Expanding the idea of protective services to embrace the protection of the environment, the Airdrie Emergency Services Kings Heights Facility combines concepts of sustainable architecture with specific programmatic needs of the City of Airdrie Fire Department. Recognized as a community station, this hall was designed as a “typical prototype” for the city of Airdrie and can be used in future locations as required. While offering the surrounding communities continuous emergency services, this station also provides its occupants all the necessary amenities and infrastructure required to perform the duties of the firefighter.

This facility was designed as a Main facility to anchor the satellite facilities. The building incorporates into its programming several training capabilities such as a 52’ tall tower with balconies. A training / learning centre is located on the second floor that includes meeting rooms, class rooms and breakout rooms and can be converted into an Emergency Operations Centre in time of crisis.
