The Calgary Portable Fire Station is a modular building intended for use in a developing urban area. It will provide temporary coverage in Walden until a permanent fire station can be established.
The 2,293-square-foot building consists of two prefabricated modular sections that have been combined and adapted to the Calgary Fire Department's programmatic needs. The small two-storey station can accommodate a crew of four and includes one apparatus bay with space for operational equipment, four bedrooms, three washrooms, a kitchen/living area, a training area and a fitness space. The station can be separated into two separate modules and moved to a new site as needed.
