The Veterans Fire Station is the third of the City of Airdrie’s planned localized fire halls and is planned to serve the city’s northwest quarter. Additionally, it is intended that the building will provide a base, as a tenant for EMS services for the area.

The facility includes three Apparatus Bays, two designated to the Airdrie Fire Department and one for EMS. Programmatically the facility will accommodate four Airdrie Fire Department staff on a 24-hour shift interval and three EMS staff. The fire personnel are provided with full living, cooking, resting and exercising areas at the facility. The EMS staff will be provided with a smaller living, cooking and resting areas and will have the option to share the AFD exercise room and equipment, laundry room and meeting room. There are two additional dorm rooms dedicated to the fire department for additional future staff. The EMS space has been design to serve as a long-term future expansion space for the AFD if ever required.
