The Chief Crowfoot School was designed with the intent of respectfully celebrating the rich history of the Siksika Nation and the surrounding landscape. Located on a green field site, we worked to understand the landscape and site the building to orient views and take advantage of the natural grades.
The building works to reference elements of the Siksika Nation and the landscape as learning tools for the primary students. The material selections on the exterior of the building reference many elements of the landscape of earth (weathered steel), stone (split faced), wood (natural pine soffits and composite wood cladding) and the sky (reflective galvanized metal).
