GGA-ARCHITECTURE is one of Southern Alberta’s largest architecture firms offering services in architecture, interior design and urban design in Western Canada. Working from our head office in Calgary we continue to be involved in some of the most exciting regional projects. Since 1983, we have provided our services to all levels of government, public and private school boards, post-secondary institutions, corporations and many private development clients.

We are always looking for professional and talented people to join our team of experienced Architects, Interior Designers, Architectural Technologists and Contract Administrators.
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
GGA is seeking innovative and talented intermediate or senior Architects with a Professional degree in Architecture and 5 to 10 years’ experience to join our team of design professionals and industry-leading technical staff. The successful candidate will be disciplined, creative and an enthusiastic individual who is able to translate our client’s requirements into exciting architectural propositions, reflecting our pursuit of sustainable design excellence, which includes:
- Work primarily with the design team and broader office teams (Marketing, Architectural Technology and Contract Administration) as required
- Primary design lead on projects
- Project lead for medium to large size projects
- Taking direction from supervisory team members
- Design studio focus on projects and project management
- Prepare and review design reports, presentation packages
- Primary point of contact with client/project manager
- Primary point of contact with approving authorities
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff
- Lead by example in all areas of work
GGA’s integrated design studio is an exciting professional environment, supported by active mentoring with opportunities to lead small to medium-sized projects.
QUALITIES & MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The chosen candidate must possess
- A recognized qualification in Architecture (typically BArch or MArch)
- Registration with AAA, or other provincial governing body, or currently working towards qualifying for registration.
- A professional and energetic attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for collaboration and teamwork.
- Proven problem-solving skills and an ability to work on multiple projects;
- Effective Time management skills and an ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- You will liaise with consultants, clients, project managers and approving authorities.
- Your portfolio should demonstrate proven design and visualization ability, as well as the design methodology you employ in your design process.
- Work experience will be considered an asset and preference will be given to those with a strong graphic communication skill set.
- Experience with admin programs including MS Office, graphic programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Revit (BIM360 coordination is an asset) and 3D modeling programs including Sketchup, Rhino, Formit and common rendering software such as Enscape, Vray, Twinmotion, etc.
- Industry-recognized certifications such as LEED AP, WELL, RHFAC etc. will be considered an asset.
